Privacy notice

The site and PublishMode are operated by The Bearded Beanie, an independent developer.

The pages themselves do not use analytics, advertising pixels, behavioural tracking or account cookies. Simply reading the static site does not submit a profile or marketing record to the operator.

The hosting and network services may generate ordinary technical logs, such as an IP address, request time, requested URL, response status and browser user-agent. These logs are handled by the site's hosting provider under its own policies and are not used to build an advertising or marketing profile.

The Windows and macOS download buttons pass through a same-origin Cloudflare Worker on this site instead of linking straight to the ZIP. When you use one, the Worker adds one to an aggregate counter for that platform, PublishMode version and filename, then immediately redirects your browser to the file.

The counter is deliberately blunt. No cookie is set for it, and it does not store your IP address, User-Agent, referrer, any unique browser or device identifier, or an individual download history. Only the platform, version, exact filename, a running request total and the time it was last updated are kept.

Because of that, the number counts download requests, not unique people, completed downloads or installations. Browser retries, resumed transfers and automated link checkers can all add to it, so it is only an approximate measure of demand for the Windows and macOS builds, used to plan testing and development.

Cloudflare, as the network in front of the site, may still record ordinary technical or security logs under its own service policies. Those are separate from this counter.

When you use the feedback form, it sends the report and any optional technical details you provide to the site's feedback service. This can include the feedback type, message, PublishMode version, operating system, DAW or host, plugin format, frequency, reproduction steps, an optional link and the address of the page you submitted from. The submission time is recorded by the server, and your browser's User-Agent is not included in the feedback email.

A hidden honeypot, submission timing and short-lived IP-based rate limiting are used to reduce spam. The IP address is used for rate limiting and is not included in the feedback email.

Your name and email address are optional. If you provide an email address, you can separately confirm that the operator may contact you about that submission. It is not added to a mailing list. Do not submit passwords, card details, licence keys or unrelated sensitive information.

Feedback data is used to investigate bugs, understand compatibility and usability problems, improve PublishMode and, where you have asked for a reply, communicate with you about the submission.

The feedback endpoint runs as a Cloudflare Worker, which forwards accepted submissions by email through the Resend email service. The submission is delivered as an email rather than stored in a database by this site, and these providers process the data under their own terms.

Feedback emails and any reply are kept only as long as needed to deal with your message and to understand recurring problems, then deleted when they are no longer needed.

Some service providers used for the feedback form, such as the email delivery service, may process data on servers outside your country, including outside the EEA, under the safeguards described in their own privacy terms. The static site itself does not carry out a separate international transfer of personal data.

Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict the use of your personal data, object to certain processing, receive portable data and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. These rights can have legal limits and exceptions.

To ask about personal data connected with a feedback submission, or to request access or deletion, use the feedback form on this site and describe the submission. Include enough information to identify it, but do not send passwords or identity documents unless they are genuinely required through a secure process.

You may have the right to complain to the data-protection supervisory authority in the country where you live or work, or where you believe a problem occurred.

The current beta is downloaded directly and free of charge, so this website does not currently send beta downloads through a payment checkout. If optional support or a paid checkout is enabled later, the provider will be identified here together with its own privacy notice. This website does not collect card details directly.

This notice may be updated when the site, feedback flow or service providers change. The revised wording and update date will be published on this page. Material changes will be communicated where required by law.
