Windows may show a SmartScreen or downloaded-from-the-internet warning because the build is unsigned. After verifying the checksum, right-click the ZIP, open Properties and use Unblock, then install as described in BETA_INSTALL.md.

macOS Gatekeeper may block the plugin because there is no Developer ID or notarization. Right-click → Open the bundle once, or use System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway for that specific item. BETA_INSTALL.md inside the ZIP documents the exact steps.

These builds are unsigned

PublishMode beta builds are not code-signed yet, so your operating system will warn you the first time. That is expected for an unsigned beta from an independent developer — BETA_INSTALL.md inside each ZIP walks through the safe way past the warning. Never disable SmartScreen, Defender or Gatekeeper globally.

Recommended: verify the downloaded ZIP against its SHA-256 checksum before installing. BETA_INSTALL.md inside the ZIP shows the exact command for your system.

Before you download

How the beta works

No account, no checkout — download the ZIP for your system straight from this site.

What happens next

  • Download the ZIP for your system above.
  • Verify the SHA-256 checksum shown next to the download button. Only download PublishMode from this site.
  • Unzip and follow BETA_INSTALL.md inside the ZIP, or the installation guide on this site, to copy the plugin into place.
  • Open your DAW, rescan plugins and start testing. The feedback page is the fastest way to report anything strange.

Beta warning

This is beta software. Expect rough edges, placeholder behaviour and the occasional surprise while the project is still being shaped.

Details

Compatibility and beta notes

Platform details, tested-host results and beta notes are maintained centrally and updated only when they are verified.

Supported platforms

  • macOS: Intel or Apple Silicon; VST3 and Audio Unit compatible hosts. macOS 10.13 or later
  • Windows: 64-bit VST3 compatible hosts. Windows 10/11 64-bit

Important beta notices

  • The beta builds are unsigned, so your system shows a one-time security warning: SmartScreen on Windows, Gatekeeper on macOS. The download page and BETA_INSTALL.md inside the ZIP cover the safe way past it.
  • Beta builds are time-limited: the current build expires on 16 October 2026 on Windows and 17 October 2026 on macOS (UTC). The plugin's About panel shows the exact date and warns during the last 14 days.
  • This is beta software. Features and session recall may change while testing continues.
  • Keep backups of important sessions and audio, especially before replacing a beta build.

Tested hosts

No host/version test results have been verified for publication yet. This does not mean other hosts are unsupported; it means no claims are being made without a recorded test.

Known issues

No critical software issues are currently documented for this build.

System requirements

Measured audio-thread load

These figures come from measured audio-thread load of the full processing chain with all sections enabled. PublishMode is a single track insert - one instance per voice track - so even the heaviest configuration leaves most of a modern machine free.

Minimum

  • macOS 10.13 or later on Intel or Apple Silicon, or Windows 10/11 64-bit.
  • Dual-core 64-bit CPU from roughly 2015 or newer: Intel 6th-gen Core / AMD Ryzen 1st-gen class.
  • 8 GB RAM. PublishMode itself uses well under 100 MB per instance.
  • Display with at least 768 px of vertical space. The window auto-scales to fit.
  • A VST3 or AU on macOS compatible 64-bit host.

Recommended

  • macOS 12+ on Apple Silicon, or Windows 10/11 on a quad-core CPU from 2019 or newer: Intel 8th-gen / AMD Ryzen 3000 class or better.
  • 16 GB RAM.
  • 1920x1080 or larger display.
  • An audio interface with reliable low-latency drivers if you track or stream through LIVE mode.
LIVE full chain

At 48 kHz with a 64-sample buffer: about 10% of one core on a 2021 Apple Silicon Mac.

POST everything enabled

Cleanup, tuning, harmony, character and 2x oversampling: about 20% of one core on the audio thread, with pitch engines doing additional work on background cores.

POST podcast chain

Clean, EQ, De-Esser, Dynamics, Tape and Limiter: about 12% of one core.

Offline render

Everything enabled runs faster than real time at 44.1/48 kHz. At 96 kHz with oversampling, expect roughly real-time render speed per instance.

Notes

  • For a minimum-spec 2015 machine, roughly double the 2021 Apple Silicon CPU percentages.
  • CPU scales with sample rate and oversampling: 96 kHz costs about twice 48 kHz, and 4x oversampling costs more than 2x.
  • For voice work, 48 kHz with 2x oversampling in POST is the sweet spot.
  • Sample rates from 44.1 to 96 kHz are fully supported and tested. Higher rates work with proportionally higher CPU.
  • Turning off sections you do not use reduces CPU accordingly. The figures above are worst-case with everything running.
