Installation

Install PublishMode

The beta installs manually: download the ZIP for your system, verify its checksum, and copy the plugin into your plugin folder. BETA_INSTALL.md inside each ZIP has the full instructions, including the checksum commands.

Windows

  1. Close your DAW, then download and extract the Windows beta ZIP.
  2. If Windows blocks the download, verify the published SHA-256 checksum first, then right-click the ZIP, open Properties and use Unblock. The build is unsigned, so a SmartScreen warning is expected — do not disable SmartScreen or Defender globally.
  3. Copy PublishMode.vst3 to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Common\VST3\ — the per-user VST3 folder, no administrator rights needed.
  4. Open your DAW and run a full VST3 rescan.
Full instructions, including PowerShell checksum verification and uninstall steps, are in BETA_INSTALL.md inside the ZIP.

macOS

  1. Close every audio host, then download and extract the macOS beta ZIP.
  2. Copy PublishMode.vst3 to ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/ and PublishMode.component to ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/.
  3. If Gatekeeper blocks the plugin, use System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway for that specific item. The beta has no Developer ID or notarization, so this is expected — do not disable Gatekeeper globally.
  4. Reopen your DAW and run a full plugin rescan.
Full instructions, including checksum verification and uninstall steps, are in BETA_INSTALL.md inside the ZIP.

Plugin folders

Common install locations

These are the normal plugin locations from the user manual. If your DAW does not find PublishMode automatically, rescan plugins after installation.

macOS VST3

~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/

macOS AU

~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/

Windows VST3

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Common\VST3\

If your DAW keeps loading an older build, fully close the DAW, confirm there is only one installed copy of PublishMode in your plugin folders, then rescan or clear the DAW plugin cache.
